Years ago I came across a post by this same title. The writer has now passed. Her death was a grief to those who knew her through her writing, and so much more for those who knew her personally. Her name was Rachel Meeks of Small Notebook blog. She was my age. A wife and mother. Shortly after she died, her blog was removed from the internet. This is still sad to me when I think about it. She shared deep peace, contentment and love in her writing.
One year she wrote a memorable essay around Christmas time.
This is what she said that I now pass along to you:
This is a dear and special time of year. This season is full of joy, and for us mothers, much loving work for our families. We rejoice in seeing our children delight in the season, and see the fruit of our labor at Christmas.
And yet. The fear creeps into our hearts as we wrap the presents, finish the decorations and prepare the traditional meals. The fear that what we have done and offered is not enough.
But it is enough. Our care for each of our loved ones makes our small and great efforts full of meaning.
Be at peace.
You have done enough. Our Lord sees you and knows all that you have given and done for your family. Rest in His peace.
